Did you ever think about the fact that Jesus was born in a hotel?
Just what does that mean??
Or what were those ordinary people (like the shepherds) thinking when they got the message to come to Bethlehem to see the newborn king? They were people just like you and me. They probably had mixed emotions, right? What would you have done?
Come on Sunday and hear dramatic readings on these topics:
Christmas Comes to A Back Fence
Christmas In a Hotel
Joseph: Foster Parent
The Mystery and Manure of Christmas: The Animals
Ordinary People: The Shepherds
It might open a whole new view of Christmas for you.
Peace,
Julie

"Are the Geese Getting Fat?"
"Christmas is a-coming, and the geese are getting fat,
Please to put a penney in an old man's hat..."
This is a rhyme I learned long ago from my grandmother about the coming of Christmas.
When I was a child, I loved Christmas, of course. But now that I am older, it has become more of a burden than a joy.
'Christmas is coming' is a topic that strangers in crowded stores will bemoan together. At least we have a common target for complaints, which in some ways helps create a bond.
Still, wouldn't you like to have more than the typical "trite" Christmas that is on the shelves at the local big box store??
Sorry, you can't SPEND your way to joy on Christmas. At least not with money.
The only way to joy in spending, is to SPEND YOURSELF for others. Dropping a few bucks in the kettle of the bell-ringers is one way to spend for others; but it's not really "spending yourself".
Give yourself the gift of joy this Christmas and in the coming year. Try spending time.
Sign up to :
> be a tutor at your local grade school.
> at a nearby food pantry.
> help re-build and repair the homes of elderly and poor people.
You will find that the joy you receive will feed your soul.
Merry Christmas!

Is enough really ever ENOUGH?
For most of us, enough is really never enough.
In fact, "TOO MUCH" is often not enough either.
Why?
Is it because what I'm really looking for is security??
No matter how big my 401K is, I can't guarantee my future.
So where does that leave me?
Come back next Monday for more on this topic.
