"Christmas is a-coming, and the geese are getting fat,
Please to put a penney in an old man's hat..."
This is a rhyme I learned long ago from my grandmother about the coming of Christmas.
When I was a child, I loved Christmas, of course. But now that I am older, it has become more of a burden than a joy.
'Christmas is coming' is a topic that strangers in crowded stores will bemoan together. At least we have a common target for complaints, which in some ways helps create a bond.
Still, wouldn't you like to have more than the typical "trite" Christmas that is on the shelves at the local big box store??
Sorry, you can't SPEND your way to joy on Christmas. At least not with money.
The only way to joy in spending, is to SPEND YOURSELF for others. Dropping a few bucks in the kettle of the bell-ringers is one way to spend for others; but it's not really "spending yourself".
Give yourself the gift of joy this Christmas and in the coming year. Try spending time.

You will find that the joy you receive will feed your soul.
Merry Christmas!

Congratulations!! You are now a "Techno-Geek"--welcome to my world.
I enjoyed your first post--how does the Christmas season just start spinning faster and faster? The closer I get to school getting out, completing the shopping--I'm worn out by Christmas and am really only thankful for a few quiet hours! Gotta work on this!
Congratulations on your first blog and keep up the good work, Fellow Techno-Geek.
